Understanding sound waves & frequency.

A sound wave is the pattern of disturbance caused by the movement of energy (vibration) traveling through air. Each wave is a cycle of compression & rarefraction.

Frequency is a count of the number of these cycles or waves that occur per second.

The unit for a frequency is a hertz. 1 hertz is equal to 1 cycle per second.

High frequencies have a shorter wavelength, with more cycles per second.

Low frequencies have a longer wavelength with less cycles per second
